Boat radio, get the waterproof N-Joy on board

Just as our waterproof speakers are ideal for use aboard a boat, our waterproof N-Joy radio is also perfect as a boat radio. The N-Joy is a separate controller that allows you to play your favorite music through the built-in boat speakers with a few clicks. With a choice of the five most popular streaming services – Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Apple Music* (a subscription may be required) – you’ll always have your favorite music and playlists on hand. The TuneIn Radio* app also gives you free access to over 100,000 radio stations, international, national, and regional. Would you rather put your own audio on the boat radio? You can too: with 12 GB of internal memory, you can store your favorite music on the controller.

* For streaming, the N-Joy does require a WiFi network. This is easy to create with a MiFi router or your phone’s hotspot function.

N-Joy’s advantages as a boat radio

Although the N-Joy radio was designed for use in the bathroom in mind, it also proves to be excellent for use on the water. With its combination of ease of use, functionality and design, the N-Joy feels like it belongs on board. The controller is completely waterproof (IPX7) and can handle any rain shower or form of water fun. It is classified as submersible and can even stay underwater for 30 minutes to a depth of up to 1 meter.

Because the N-Joy controller is mobile, you can easily take it from the deck to the cabin or cockpit. Wherever you are enjoying yourself on board, you can always pause the music, adjust the volume or skip a song. Thanks to the touchscreen and user-friendly interface, anyone can operate the boat radio. The N-Joy is therefore the way to easily listen to music on a boat.

With the magnetic wall mount, you can easily create a fixed location for the radio. We recommend mounting the wall mount with charging function indoors. The wall mount without charging function is ideal for giving a fixed location outside.

Choosing speakers with the boat radio

We offer the N-Joy radio as standard in three handy sets, but it is also available separately in combination with the other waterproof speakers in the AquaSound range. We’ve previously discussed the ins and outs of AquaSound speakers as boat speakers in detail, so we’ll keep it brief here. Be sure to read on – or contact us – if you’re having trouble choosing the right speakers.

Speakers for inside the cabin: IPX4
All our speakers have at least an IPX4 rating and are splash proof. These speakers have excellent resistance to moisture and can therefore be built in and remain in the cabin all year round. For example, choose from the complete sets, or combine the N-Joy radio with the Twist speaker set or the Samba DT.

Speakers for outside in the cockpit or on the deck: IPX6
For speakers that really have to deal with the elements or cleaning on board, we recommend two ratings higher: waterproof. In our range you will find two speakers with an IPX6 rating, namely the Jive Eco or the Jazz Extreme. You build these in as well, and they can stay out all year.

Tips on installing the N-Joy as a boat radio

Where most boat radios are built in, the N-Joy only has built-in speakers. This makes the N-Joy flexible in use. The controller does require a charging point, which is incorporated into a handy magnetic wall mount. This immediately creates a fixed location on board where the radio can always be placed back, ideal for indoor use. In addition to the wall mount with charging function, you can also order a wall mount without charging function, so that the N-Joy also has a fixed place in the cockpit or on the deck – very convenient while sailing! This way the radio always has a fixed place within reach.

Depending on the built-in speakers of your choice, a mounting depth is required. This is clearly stated for each speaker. So make sure you have enough space to build in the speakers.

Rather play music through your own device?

Still unsure if a boat radio is exactly what you are looking for to listen to music on board? AquaSound’s waterproof speakers can also be used with just an amplifier, with your own device being the audio source. In our assortment you will find both WiFi and Bluetooth options, where on board Bluetooth is probably the most logical choice.
